Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment which included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family.  Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who would drink often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled in school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her community and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
