Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964 was a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for healthcare reform, federal descheduling of cannabis, a pathway for undocumented immigrants to become citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
